Margaret was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended the Cincinnati Art Academy where she studied fine art focusing on drawing and painting. In 1977 she moved to San Francisco, California and soon became involved with the San Francisco Visionary Artists Group. She studied with California visionary artist Clayton Anderson. Her surrealistic works were also greatly influenced by her longtime friend Nick Hyde, another leading California visionary artist. He has provided guidance in technique, composition and constructive criticism for more than thirty years.
The imagery in Margaret's paintings have always been dream inspired. The mind-expanding opportunities of the 1970's and 1980's, especially in San Francisco, were transformational, and her imagery became more organic and interconnected in nature and the spiritual world, and there it remains.
